The City of Yellowknife - Planning and Environment Division is growing with new initiatives and transformative projects that will shape Yellowknife's future. To meet this exciting demand, the department is seeking one skilled Planner II professional who is ready to guide and contribute to shaping our evolving urban landscape.

Be part of a forward-thinking team where your work will have a lasting impact As a Planner II, reporting to the Manager, Planning and Environment, you will bring a long-term perspective, guidance, and expert planning skills to guide a wide range of projects and policy development works. In this role, you will:

Contribute to major planning and development projects that align with the City's short- and long-term goals.Provide recommendations on complex development permits and prepare policy and bylaw documents for public review and Council approval.Conduct research, provide data-driven recommendations, and deliver impactful reports that shape municipal strategies and priorities.Collaborate with team members to ensure effective implementation of policies, projects and development permit process.

To excel in this role, the position requires:

A university degree in urban and regional planning, or a related fieldA minimum of 4 years of experience in planning, or a related fieldCandidate or full membership in good standing with CIP and APPIProven ability to create and present visual design aids using tools like ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and rendering softwareStrong relationship-building skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently and in a team environmentA valid NWT Class 5 Driver's License.

The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $96,642 per annum, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totalling $450, and a defined benefit pension plan.
