The Opportunity

Reporting to the Appointed Actuary, the incumbent will participate in performing actuarial liability calculations and producing data for various monthly and quarterly analyses. The role includes reviewing the company's financial health and calculating regulatory solvency ratios (LICAT). Finally, the incumbent will contribute to various projects within the department.

This position can be based outside Moncton and offers hybrid or fully remote work options anywhere in Canada.



What you'll do
Responsibilities
  • Perform actuarial liability calculations, including coding new products, updating assumptions, and preparing data extracts for quarterly evaluations.
  • Validate and analyze results, update experience analysis data, and support corporate actuarial team requests within deadlines.
  • Contribute to asset/liability management (ALM) by producing cash flows under various scenarios and assisting with solvency ratio (LICAT) calculations.
  • Participate in annual financial health reviews, updating input files and running projection scenarios.
  • Support experience studies (e.g., mortality, lapse) and assist in developing recommendations and reports.
  • Collaborate on corporate projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and tools.


What you'll need
Qualifications
  • University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field, with progress toward ACIA or ASA designation.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the life insurance sector.
  • Knowledge of insurance products, financial markets, and actuarial standards (including IFRS 17).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong programming skills (SQL, VBA); experience with AXIS is a strong asset.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in both French and English.
  • Ability to work in a transforming environment and meet tight deadlines.
