Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible to plan, organize, control and improve all activities for the shipping department in respect Act as the central point of contact to communicate and resolve order fulfillment delivery issues
  • Oversee multiple sites across Western Canada
  • Control, track, and report on monthly operating expense variances.
  • Create and advise on strategies to resolve shipping discrepancies
  • Develop, monitor and control departmental budgets.
  • Provide clear and concise communication to direct reports, 6 Supervisors and 8 coordinators.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure continued compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, JHSC recommendations or MOL work orders, Company Safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Provide performance management counseling and/or progressive discipline in a timely fashion when required.
  • Learn, develop and exhibit behaviors consistent with Bimbo Canada's "Leadership Values".
  • Review and analyze product compliance according to the specifications
  • Work with the production department to optimize plant efficiencies through strategic scheduling of product lines (meeting production and shipping timelines).
  • Work with supply chain to optimize transport and timely delivery of product to Distribution Centers.
  • Partner will sales to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Perform other shipping, transportation and order fulfillment duties as required.
Experience & Education
  • At least 3-5 years' experience as a Logistics Manager in a food or CPG, unionized environment
  • The successful candidate will possess a relevant post secondary education
  • Superior communication skills in a multi-cultural environment and the ability to deal with a variety of front-line industrial relations issues.
  • Takes initiative, exercises good judgment in day-to-day business decisions.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of good labor/management practices including progressive discipline and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards, regulations and best practices.
  • The flexibility to adapt to a 24-hour, 7 day operation schedule
  • Ability to balance multiple issues in relation to production scheduling, order fulfillment, supply/demand balancing.
  • Understanding of picking automation would be an asset
  • Experience with WMS or other warehouse management systems
