About the Position:

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the Building and Grounds Technician will be responsible for:

Lawn Care & Landscaping

  • Regularly cut, trim, and maintain all lawn areas to ensure a neat and professional appearance.
  • Perform trimming around fences, gates, and other hard-to-reach areas where mowers cannot operate.

Seasonal Cleanup

  • Conduct seasonal property cleanups as needed to prepare for weather changes.
  • Fall: Rake and remove leaves from lawns, gardens, and walkways.
  • Spring: Sweep parking lots to remove debris and winter residue.
  • Spring: Refresh and re-mulch all garden areas for improved appearance and plant health.

Garden & Plant Maintenance

  • Prune shrubs, bushes, and plants to encourage healthy growth and maintain shape.
  • Weed gardens and landscaped areas to prevent overgrowth and maintain curb appeal.
  • Apply mulch as needed to support soil health and moisture retention.

Snow & Ice Removal

  • Clear snow and ice from all sidewalks, facility entrances, and plant overhead doors during winter months.
  • Apply salt or ice melt as necessary to ensure safe walking conditions.
  • Note: Snow removal duties exclude yard areas and parking lots.

Facility Cleanliness

  • Maintain walkways at multiple facilities, ensuring they are free from litter and hazards.
  • Remove trash, garbage, and debris from areas surrounding shops and operational buildings.

Yard Upkeep & Repairs

  • Identify and repair potholes in yard and access areas as needed.
  • Coordinate the delivery and placement of gravel or other materials required for yard repairs.
  • Monitor yard conditions regularly to ensure safe and functional work areas.

  • Hamilton, ON.

Position Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or facility maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to operate lawn mowers, trimmers, snow blowers, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of seasonal landscaping and snow removal techniques.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean, safe grounds.
  • Basic communication skills for coordinating with Plant Managers and suppliers.
