Position Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Estimator to join our estimating team. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in developing their career in the residential construction industry. This role is critical in ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality and profitability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Estimating & Takeoffs:

  • Assist in preparing base house and options estimates for new home models and custom builds.
  • Build and maintain HomeFront estimating models, ensuring all material and labor items are up to date.
  • Input and update estimate data accurately in HomeFront.
  • Perform takeoffs and quantity measurements from architectural drawings using Bluebeam Revu.
  • Review blueprints, specifications, and scope documents to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide quantity and cost data for vendor pricing and trade comparisons.
  • Participate in pricing reviews and vendor meetings as needed.
  • Support the Senior Estimator in developing budgets and cost comparisons.

Purchase Order (PO) Management:

  • Generate, issue, and track purchase orders through HomeFront and BuildPro systems. Ensure PO accuracy, proper coding, and timely approval.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors regarding PO changes, and pricing discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate cost tracking and reporting.

System & Process Administration:

  • Maintain project and vendor data within HomeFront and BuildPro.
  • Ensure all estimating and purchasing documents are up to date and properly filed.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with construction, design, and accounting teams to ensure smooth handoffs from estimating to build stages.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of residential construction estimating or related experience.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software (BuildPro, HomeFront, BlueBeam Revu or similar).
  • Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and local Building Codes.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and stakeholders.
