About Davis Machine Co.
Davis Machine Co. is a well-established industrial machine shop supporting power generation, pulp & paper, mining, and heavy industrial clients. Our work includes industrial machining, component refurbishment, babbitt bearings, and critical rotating equipment, where quality, documentation, and delivery timelines matter.
We are seeking a hands-on Project Manager to coordinate and control projects from kickoff through final delivery. This role sits at the center of the operation, bridging the shop floor, office, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the details, thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, and understands that successful projects depend on planning, documentation, material control, and logistics discipline.
What You'll Be Responsible For
You will manage projects end-to-end, with accountability for schedule, documentation, materials, and communication.
Core Responsibilities
- Project Ownership
Plan, manage, and track industrial machining and refurbishment projects from intake to closeout
- Scheduling & Prioritization
Develop and maintain project schedules, adjusting priorities as shop capacity, outages, and urgent work arise
- Material Control & Procurement
Identify required materials early, coordinate ordering, track deliveries, and mitigate supply risks
- Subcontractor Coordination
Manage external services such as NDT, heat treatment, coatings, cutting, and forming
- Supplier & Vendor Communication
Maintain clear communication with suppliers and subcontractors to protect timelines and accountability
- QA & Documentation Management
Compile and manage quality documentation including inspection reports, NDT records, material traceability, and final closeout packages
- Logistics & Shipping Coordination
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipping, working with carriers, freight providers, and internal shipping/receiving
- Documentation & Recordkeeping
Maintain organized, accurate project files accessible to shop, office, and customers
- Proactive Issue Resolution
Anticipate and resolve scheduling, material, or logistical issues before they impact delivery
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who understands industrial work realities, not just project theory.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in project coordination or project management within manufacturing, machining, or industrial environments
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable working with technical drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements
- Clear written and verbal communicator, able to work effectively with shop personnel and office staff
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects without losing control of details
- Strong understanding of material procurement, subcontracting, and logistics workflows
- Proficiency in MS Office; ERP experience is an asset (JobBOSS2 strongly preferred)
Assets That Set You Apart
- Experience with industrial machining or refurbishment projects
- Familiarity with QA documentation packages and closeout requirements
- Experience supporting outage-driven or schedule-critical work
- PMP certification (not required, but a strong asset)
Why This Role Is Different
- You're managing real industrial work, not abstract deliverables
- Your decisions directly impact shop efficiency, delivery, and customer confidence
- You'll be embedded in operations, not siloed in an office
- You'll help bring structure and clarity to complex, high-responsibility projects
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Extended health and dental coverage
- Retirement benefits
- Stable workload with long-term industrial customers
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1.00 per year
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Company events
- Company pension
- Dental care
- Disability insurance
- Employee assistance program
- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
- Profit sharing
- RRSP match
- Tuition reimbursement
- Vision care
