Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada AbCellera Full time

From target to the clinic. AbCellera's platform integrates biology, computation, and engineering to develop impactful antibody-based medicines. We're scientists, engineers, and business professionals who work together to turn scientific insights into breakthrough medicines. We pursue truth and scientific rigor. We think independently, act with conviction, and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown. We offer the opportunity to stretch and explore, and to work on things that matter.

We are seeking a motivated, meticulous, and conscientious candidate with hands-on
in vivo
laboratory experience to join our dynamic group, supporting the team on a Tuesday to Saturday work schedule. You will contribute to the discovery of therapeutic antibodies from natural immune repertoires, and through teamwork, innovation, and mutual support, together we tackle the most challenging scientific problems.

How you might spend your days:

  • Maintaining the lab space and restocking supplies for in vivo, in vitro, and ex vivo activities
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for laboratory experiments
  • Ordering and organizing the distribution of materials to the central lab and storage locations using an inventory management system
  • Performing daily cage wash operations, including sterilization, and disposal of non-hazardous and hazardous waste
  • Preparing cleaned cages with sterile bedding and enrichment items; food and water
  • Using laboratory glassware washers, autoclaves and ovens to clean and sterilize laboratory glassware and other labware
  • Preparing, labelling and aliquoting common reagents, animal diet food and treats
  • Transporting of samples between sites across Vancouver
  • Maintaining core lab equipment: freezers, pipettes and incubators
  • Maintaining SOPs; documenting and contributing to best practices
  • Coordinating activities with the rest of the lab management team and other labs
  • Maintaining a safe and productive work environment and lab facility, compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Supporting the team whenever an extra pair of hands is needed

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • You are able to work autonomously, and take pride in being self-motivated
  • You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment with multiple competing priorities
  • You have at least 1 year of experience working in a research environment, preferably in vivo
  • You are a fast learner, team player, and creative problem solver
  • You have excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills, and are known for your accountability and reliability
  • You are able to lift up to 25 kg, and are comfortable with long periods of standing and bending throughout your day

What we offer:
AbCellera's hiring range for this role is CAD $50,000 - $61,600 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.

You will have a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, opportunity for flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, and comprehensive health benefits. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you'll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.

About AbCellera:
AbCellera is a global company focused on delivering breakthrough medicines that alleviate suffering, extend lives, and improve health. Our platform includes fully integrated capabilities to create first-in-class and best-in-class antibody medicines, from discovery to clinical manufacturing.

We are using our technological advantage to develop programs across multiple indications including endocrine and metabolic conditions, oncology, and inflammation and autoimmunity. We're advancing programs involving complex transmembrane proteins, bispecifics, and antibody drug conjugates.

Creating medicines is the most important work we can do. When tenacious people share a vision and work together, they can truly have a positive impact. That's why we hire for character and intelligence, not just for CVs or experience.

We look for people with drive and energy. People we trust. People who need to know their days are being well spent. That their work really matters. In the end, our success will be measured by the impact of our medicines.
