The Laboratory of Behavioral Neuroendocrinology at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a
part-time, contract (6 months)
Research Analyst to support in a large-scale, grant-funded research project. This position will involve working with large datasets and prediction models. The Research Analyst will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and postdoctoral researchers. The successful candidate will contribute to peer-reviewed publications and ensure the project meets its scientific, administrative, and reporting obligations. This role requires strong initiative, critical thinking, and attention to detail, along with a proactive, collaborative working style. The successful candidate will contribute to a supportive and diverse research team and must adhere to all applicable ethical and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Project Administration
- Manage/obtain access to research databases
- Ensure and organize secure data storage
- Ensure compliance with institutional and external requirements related to data sharing, ethics, IP, and confidentiality—especially in line with obligations to the CAMH and the granting agency.
- Maintain organized backups of project scripts, data, and documentation
- Track project progress and contribute to internal and external reporting, including formal reports to the funding agency
- Coordinate cross-team and cross-investigator meetings, including scheduling, agenda setting, and minute-taking
Research & Analysis
- Assist in database summarization
- Contribute to the development of data dictionaries, particularly for female-specific and Alzheimer's Disease-related variables
- Compile literature and background information to support manuscript writing and grant reporting
Job Requirements
- This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in biostatistics, neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology, biology, or a related field, with at least one (1) year of relevant research experience.
- Proficiency in R and Python for data cleaning, statistical analysis, and visualization.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets in health, neuroscience, or related disciplines, is preferred. Familiarity with research related to sex differences, hormones, neurogenesis, pregnancy, or neurodegenerative diseases is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in scientific writing, manuscript preparation, and translating complex findings for varied audiences
- Strong understanding of research ethics, data security, and intellectual property principles; prior experience working with research ethics boards (REB) is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical software such as STATISTICA (preferred), SPSS, or equivalent. Experience with visual communication tools (e.g., SigmaPlot, BioRender) for figure generation is highly desirable
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain meticulous records in a fast-paced research environment
