As a member of the healthcare team, using a family and child centered approach, the Occupational Therapist enables infants, children and adolescents to maximize his or her occupational performance (self care, productivity and leisure) in order to facilitate discharge, community integration and functional adaptation. The focus of the role is primarily for inpatient care.

Monday to Friday; Days. Evenings and weekends as required.

This position is temporary until April 2026.

McMaster Children's Hospital, located in Hamilton's west-end, is the second largest children's hospital in Canada. We are home to the fastest-growing kids-only emergency department in Ontario, one of Canada's most advanced neonatal intensive care units, and a range of programs and clinics with unique expertise in a number of areas including children's cancer, digestive diseases, and mental health.

The 3C Pediatric Medicine and Intermediate Care Unit at McMaster Children's Hospital (MCH), the largest unit at MCH, provides inpatient tertiary, acute, and sub-speciality care to pediatric medical patients.  Our newly renovated, state of the art department is a dynamic, fast-paced unit where specialized medical care is provided to children with complex medical care needs. The 3C Pediatric Medicine department at MCH takes an innovative approach to our orientation programs. We welcome nurses entering the profession and are committed to ensuing a successful transition from student to nurse.

  • Current member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a Pediatric setting preferably in acute tertiary care within the last 3 years

  • Experience with evaluation and treatment of feeding

  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities as related to infants, children and adolescents and their families as they pertain to pediatric populations

  • Knowledge of community services and children's treatment facilities

  • Significant ability to do multitasks in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
