The Public Works Foreman is responsible for the management, administration, and delivery of all public works services, such as water, sewer, solid waste, and for the maintenance of all facilities and infrastructure in order to ensure they are accessible, in good operating condition and safe.
The Public Works Foreman will oversee staff ensuring that all decisions and actions comply with relevant legislation and policies and are within approved operating budgets. The Public Works Foreman is responsible for managing and overseeing contractors, construction projects, and any staff required to complete projects or repairs. The failure to provide adequate maintenance activities will have an impact on the quality of life for residents and affect the useful life of band assets and infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Journeyman Trade Certificate or Equivalent
A minimum five years' experience in construction, municipal maintenance, and heavy equipment operation
Computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet are important
A proficient knowledge of municipal administration, maintenance programs, managing water & sanitation systems, heavy equipment operations, road and airstrip maintenance & repair, as well as a basic knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, heating & electrical systems will be valuable
Skills in supervision and team leadership, contract management, negotiation, and decision-making
Effective communications and public relations
Ability to maintain records to ensure safety and maintenance programs are followed
Valid Class 5 Driver's License minimum, with Class 3 preferred
Heavy Equipment Certificate
Criminal Record Check Required
