We are dedicated to crafting excellence in every vine, cultivating multiple distinct grape varieties including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Marechal, Foch and Regent, across our varied geographic locations from as far south as Osoyoos to as far north as Vernon.
We are seeking a highly skilled
Bottling & Disgorging Line Technician
to support our winemaking operations across West Kelowna and Osoyoos. The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical aptitude, production-line expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence within a fast-paced winery environment. This position is based at our West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada location at 3725 Boucherie Road.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops production schedules in collaboration with the Winemakers and plans to meet production goals, considering factors such as demand forecasts, raw material availability, and equipment capacity for our West Kelowna and Osoyoos locations.
- Ensures that the bottling process complies with all relevant specifications, industry regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements. Maintains necessary documentation and records.
- Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of bottling line machinery and equipment to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. Schedules and performs preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Monitors, troubleshoots, repairs, adjusts, installs, maintains and operates all bottling equipment.
- Oversees the management of raw materials and packaging supplies required for the bottling process. Manages production costs within budget constraints by optimizing processes, reducing waste, and maintaining adequate inventory levels to avoid production disruptions.
- Identifies areas of cost savings, and makes recommendations for process improvements or cost reduction initiatives.
- Addresses and resolves production-related issues and challenges as they arise, making quick decisions to minimize disruptions and maintain production schedules.
- Monitors product quality throughout the bottling process and implements quality control procedures to detect and address any issues promptly. Ensures that products meet established quality standards and specifications while using the equipment to its fullest potential.
- Assesses and improves bottling line operations by identifying inefficiencies and implementing process enhancements. Explores opportunities for automation and technology upgrades.
- Enforces safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Conducts safety training and regular safety inspections to prevent accidents.
- Generates reports on production performance, quality metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management. Provides regular updates on bottling line operations.
- Develops and maintains SOPs, training materials, etc. and ensures employees follow proper protocols.
- Stays updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in bottling and production management. Provide training and development opportunities for the team.
- Implements eco-friendly practices and initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of bottling operations, such as recycling and waste reduction programs.
- Leads by example in this hands-on role.
- Participate in harvest activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or technical training in mechanics, industrial maintenance or automation preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a similar environment working in bottling or production line operations and maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude required.
- Winery experience is an asset.
- Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety standards in the beverage or liquid bottling industry.
- Strong commitment to workplace health & safety.
- Ability to follow established procedures and recommend new procedures when required.
- Ability to work under pressure and be production oriented.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, work long hours during peak periods, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work various shifts during harvest and bottling periods.
- A Forklift License is an asset.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license for business travel between locations across the Okanagan.
