Mail Sorter

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Mail Sorter to join our logistics team. This role involves organizing, sorting, and managing incoming and outgoing mail and packages within a fast-paced warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with warehouse operations, heavy equipment, and shipping & receiving processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a manufacturing and distribution setting, utilizing various warehouse management systems and heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

• Sort and organize incoming mail, packages, and freight efficiently and accurately
• Load and unload shipments using forklifts, reach trucks, or other heavy equipment
• Operate order pickers, cranes, and other machinery to facilitate order fulfillment
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing items for shipment or storage
• Maintain proper documentation using warehouse management systems such as AS400
• Ensure safety protocols are followed during heavy equipment operation and material handling
• Support shipping & receiving activities by verifying contents against orders
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment like forklifts and cranes to ensure safe operation
• Collaborate with warehouse staff to optimize storage space and streamline distribution processes

Requirements

• Prior experience in warehouse distribution, manufacturing, or construction environments preferred
• Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, cranes, or reach trucks
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems like AS400 or similar platforms
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
• Experience with order picking, order fulfillment, packaging, and load & unload procedures
• Knowledge of shipping & receiving protocols and inventory management practices
• Warehouse experience involving the operation of heavy equipment including forklifts and order pickers
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in sorting and managing shipments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.20-$23.62 per hour
