About this opportunity:

Cenovus is currently looking for an Instrument Maintenance Technician to join their Maintenance and Reliability department in their Foster Creek, AB location reporting to the Instrument and Electrical Process and De-oiling, Offsites Coordinator. The Maintenance Technician will be accountable for adhering to safe work practices that comply to EH&S guidelines and Cenovus internal practices and expectations, work with the Operations staff to provide troubleshooting expertise, implementing preventative and corrective work.

While this vacancy is currently at Foster Creek, this posting could be used to fill vacancies at any of the three Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need).

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation
  • Foster Creek and Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities
  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations
  • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton
  • Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB

What you'll do:

  • Ensure effective commissioning of trade equipment (Control valves, transmitters, control systems) following repairs and replacements while providing support and technical advice to facilities engineering and project personnel.
  • Respond to after hour call outs as per a rotation schedule.
  • Interpret drawings, use appropriate codes and follow installation standards and practices, examine process flow drawings, equipment lists and specifications for reference purposes and for determining work procedure.
  • Provide support to planning when it comes to preventative or corrective maintenance requirements.
  • Support the scheduling department to prevent schedule conflicts and find opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Contribute to and consistently enhance maintenance critical metrics (KPIs).
  • Provide recommendations to team leads and warehouse personnel regarding equipment and spare parts inventory requirements.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation Technician
  • Experience with daily maintenance activities, processes related to SAGD or Equivalent Oil Process type facilities
  • Proficiency in CMMS software (i.e., SAP, Maximo)
  • Dual ticket certification considered an asset

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
