QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Minimum of a two (2) year Diploma or Certificate as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA), or a Rehabilitation Assistant is required from an accredited college.
- Current BCLS required
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in an acute care environment.
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of recovery and patient-centered approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to assist in the development and maintenance of a therapeutic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct and guide patients through recommended treatment and activity programs both individually and in groups.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Meditech Expanse and Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
- Demonstrated discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
- Must demonstrate commitment to ensure personal safety, safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
- Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required
- Must demonstrate good attendance
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
