Insight Global is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join a rapidly growing technology company in the audio and video communication industry.

This organization develops innovative solutions that make industrial communication safe, simple, and effective, partnering with leading global technology companies to deliver cutting-edge products.

As a Senior Firmware Engineer, you will lead the development of telecom audio and video IP products with industry-leading performance and capabilities. You'll collaborate with experts in hardware design, acoustical and optical engineering, voice/music/video codecs, application development, and design verification. This role offers continuous skill development and impactful, rewarding work.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of embedded software solutions across the full lifecycle: requirements analysis, implementation, documentation, deployment, validation, and ongoing feature support.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.
  • Identify and implement improvements in reliability, functionality, and testing.
  • Conduct in-depth root cause analysis.
  • Develop performance and functional documentation.
  • Write and maintain embedded firmware in C.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Proficiency in C and Bash.
  • Development experience in a Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with source control systems.
  • Must have the unrestricted right to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of TCP/UDP and RFC-based protocols.
  • Experience analyzing network traffic with Wireshark.
  • Familiarity with Lua, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with TI ARM processors (AM335x, AM625, DM81xx, DM64xx, AM57xx).
  • Previous exposure to VoIP, SIP, Skype, TLS, SRTP.
  • Knowledge of audio/video codecs such as G.711, G.722, G.729, H.264.
