Manager – Corporate Tax & Audit (ASPE, Private Clients)

Our client, a
well-established and respected mid-sized public accounting firm
, is seeking an experienced
Manager
to join their team. This is a
confidential search
for a leadership role serving
owner-managed and privately held businesses
across a variety of industries. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge of
ASPE, corporate tax, and assurance engagements
, as well as a passion for building strong client relationships in an entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review
    compilation, review, and audit engagements for private companies under
    ASPE
    .
  • Oversee corporate tax compliance and planning
    , including preparation and review of T2 returns, tax provisions, and advisory support for owner-managers.
  • Lead client engagements
    from planning to completion, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
    , acting as a trusted advisor for financial, tax, and operational matters.
  • Coach, mentor, and review the work
    of junior and intermediate team members, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Identify value-added opportunities
    to enhance client service and support business development initiatives.
  • Stay current with
    tax legislation, ASPE updates, and professional standards
    to ensure compliance and best practices.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA equivalent, or soon-to-be CPA).
  • Minimum
    5+ years
    of progressive experience in
    public accounting
    , including both
    assurance and corporate tax
    for private enterprises.
  • Strong working knowledge of
    ASPE
    , Canadian corporate tax laws, and assurance standards.
  • Proven ability to
    manage multiple engagements
    and delegate effectively within a team setting.
  • Exceptional
    communication, leadership, and client service skills
    .
  • Experience with accounting and tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxPrep, or similar) is an asset.
