Island Kids Academy in Esquimalt is a licensed group childcare facility providing full day care to children between 10 months and 5 years of age. We believe in offering a caring, nurturing and safe environment for children to learn, grow and develop valuable lifelong skills. We operate under a child-centered and family focused approach and believe strongly in the importance of parent partnerships to provide the highest quality of care. Our philosophy is connected with "The Virtues Project" which we use to encourage positive character development with all the children in our care.

We are currently hiring in our Esquimalt 3-5 year old program for a one:one Support Worker for 6.5 hours per day, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 10:00am-4:30pm. We are seeking an individual with experience with children with diverse needs (social, emotional and language) and someone is who is committed to parent partnerships, who is passionate, determined and motivated to work with children with special needs. This position is a temporary contract that will end on August.31st, 2026.

Job Purpose:

  • To follow and individual support plan

· To follow Island Kids Academy's Philosophy and guidance methods

· Work closely with parents, and Educators in the program

· Plan and organize activities that protect and promote the child's intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth

· Communicate daily with child's parents regarding various aspects of care for their child both verbal and through communication books

· Ensure that all children are treated with respect and that the program meets their individual developmental needs

· Maintain a comprehensive Care Plan for the child in order to maintain consistent care by all caregivers in child's life
