AReporting to the Director of Public Works, the Janitor will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the We'koqma'q Administration building, setting a high standard for cleanliness, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and community members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors throughout the building.
- Dust and clean office furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies, and ensure overall cleanliness.
- Wash windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including wiping down surfaces and appliances.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Report any hazardous conditions or safety concerns to the Director, Public Works.
Other Duties:
- Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings, events, and gatherings.
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and inform the Director of Public Works when reordering is needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Must be a Waycobah Band Member
WHMIS certification or ability to complete upon hire
Good people skills (personable)
Previous experience in janitorial or cleaning services is preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail.
Good time management skills.
Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and equipment
Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
