The AVP Residential Lending (RESL) Product Management is responsible for developing strategies to address future business transformation, P & L management, strategic partnership, and regulatory product management with an expectation to deliver superior growth results across our mortgage products including Manulife One and Select. The AVP will be responsible for the overall customer experience, advisor and broker channel experiences related in how they engage with originating, servicing and maintaining Residential Lending products. They will manage a product management team and will monitor the execution and coordination of all key activities of the team.

Position Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Define the medium-term Residential Lending product strategy & roadmap including accountability for senior executive alignment
  • Responsible for business case development to secure funding for strategic investment
  • Accountable for end-to-end execution of strategic plans including mortgage product value proposition, Product Mix strategy and Channel Strategy etc.
  • Drive the growth in Net Lending Assets for Residential Lending to drive momentum in portfolio balances to reach bold ambitious targets for Manulife Bank overall.
  • Position RESL as a strategic amplifier within the parent company, developing and executing strategic plans in partnership with Wealth and Affinity.

Leadership & team development/oversight

  • Lead a team of product management professionals with deep banking industry experience and knowledge
  • Assemble and lead high performing teams that are aligned with the company values and objectives.
  • Invest in the professional development of those employees to whom the role leads through training, mentorship and performance management.

Change readiness & competitive intelligence

  • Responsible for managing the strategic implications of cross-functional Bank initiatives, including assessing stakeholder impacts, communicating with internal and external partners, and influencing decisions that are in the best interest of the Bank and customer
  • Enabling product positioning in a competitive marketplace to ensure the attractiveness and competitiveness of our products with customers, advisors and brokers.
  • Ensure the profitability and management of rate discretion decisions, retention and portfolio management.

Compliance & controls

  • Accountability to ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal standards: key Residential Lending controls to enable the soundness of our policy, process and operational resiliency.
  • Own and execute version control of all publicly available collateral, forms and letters.

Shared Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with internal and external partners, assess and evaluate competitive intelligence in ever evolving Residential Lending Landscape in Canada as an input into strategic decisions to drive market share.
  • Working with Risk, Compliance and Marketing, oversight of all collateral, controls and governance of forms management to maintain and create organizational resiliency.
  • Strategically own discretionary yields for margin management and liaison with Funds Transfer Pricing and Treasury on strategies to support Net interest margin growth.
  • Lead a Bank cross-functional team in assessing credit policy and influencing required changes as the market evolves. Challenge the status quo on balancing to a risk vs rewards paradigm.
  • Ownership and prioritization of critical Customer Experience irritants and driving change to support enhancing NPS scores, customer experiences, customer loyalty and recommendation.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree. An MBA or another business-oriented post-graduate education would be an asset.
  • 10+ years in a combination of progressive banking, financial, treasury, product management or strategic planning experience required.

  • Highly developed communication, relationship and personnel skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and influence colleagues at all levels and at a distance.

Salary range is expected to be between

$126,600.00 CAD - $235,300.00 CAD
