Position Overview:
The CAT Rental Store (TCRS) is looking for a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our amazing team based in Calgary. You will be responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of rental equipment including construction tools, small engine equipment (compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers); knowledge of diesel generators 8 KW to 200 KW is beneficial.

Job Description:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair TCRS fleet of equipment
  • Perform service tasks on our product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers,) aerial work platforms
  • Interfaces with customers in the field on service calls in a courteous, business-like manner

Qualifications And Experience

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Must possess the technical knowledge to perform service tasks on our product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers,) aerial work platform equipment as well as knowledge of diesel generators 8 KW to 200 KW
  • Possesses excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities
  • Good understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Thorough knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine electronic management systems
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
  • Completion of Caterpillar product specific courses would be considered an asset

NOTE:

Physical Requirements:

  • Due to physical nature of the work, a requirement of the job is to be considered fit for work
  • Employee may be required to undergo a "fitness to work" assessment. These are most often done to determine medical fitness after an illness or injury, but may be completed after employment has been offered, as requested by the employer periodically, or as a condition of a job transfer

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced, work under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, ability to distinguish between colors, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Capable of working evening, night shifts as well as performing after hours service calls, weekends inclusive

*Shift Changes will be in accordance with the current Collective Agreement*
