Position Summary

The Manager, Conduct Support & Fair Play is responsible for supporting OWHA risk management, discipline processes, and complaint management systems. This position ensures that OWHA policies and procedures are effectively implemented and that matters related to governance, conduct, and dispute resolution are managed fairly, consistently, and in alignment with the OWHA's values and Safe Sport principles. The incumbent will provide guidance and administrative leadership to uphold the integrity and accountability of the organization, working collaboratively with OWHA staff, volunteers, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management

  • Coordinate organizational updates to ensure alignment with Hockey Canada, Safe Sport, and provincial standards.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to OWHA Members by providing policy support related to risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational, legal, and regulatory obligations related to risk management and reporting.

Discipline and Complaints Management

  • Oversee the intake, assessment, and resolution of on-ice and off-ice discipline and complaint matters in accordance with OWHA and Hockey Canada policies.
  • Administer processes related to investigations, hearings, and appeals, ensuring procedural fairness and timely communication.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of all cases and provide summaries and recommendations as required.
  • Liaise with member associations, teams, and officials to ensure consistent application of rules, sanctions, and conduct standards.
  • Identify trends, gaps, or systemic issues and make recommendations for policy or education enhancements.

Education and Prevention

  • Develop and coordinate educational resources and training initiatives to support understanding of governance, discipline, and Safe Sport policies.
  • Promote proactive strategies that advance respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion within the hockey community.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to strengthen policy awareness and prevention programs across all OWHA levels.

Planning and Reporting

  • Contribute to the short- and long-term planning of risk management and discipline initiatives within the OWHA.
  • Prepare regular reports and data summaries related to complaints, discipline, and risk management activity.
  • Support continuous improvement of internal systems, templates, and procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated understanding of sport governance, Safe Sport principles, and administrative fairness.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other digital administrative tools.
  • Capacity to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, sport management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in risk management, complaint resolution, or regulatory administration, preferably in a sport or non-profit environment.
  • Experience managing or supporting board and committee processes.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian sport system, Safe Sport framework, and dispute resolution processes is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence and ability to travel within the province as required.
