Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada Broadcom Full time $89,000 - $143,000 per year

Job Description:
Mission

We're looking for a hands-on technical leader to define and champion a comprehensive test strategy across our engineering organization. This role is for someone who brings a deep understanding of modern test automation, but also sees the full picture: where manual testing fits, how teams design for testability, and how to embed quality thinking into every stage of the SDLC.

Our testing practices have grown organically over time, and now we're ready for a more unified philosophy—and with it, the confidence and velocity that great test automation enables. You'll be the one to lead the way: an architect, influencer, and mentor who can elevate test automation into a core engineering competency and show us how to organize around a modern quality strategy.

What You'll Do

Define and own our test strategy

  • Drive a strategic roadmap for quality investment through long-term improvements to our testing approach that rise above day-to-day product delivery demands.
  • Lead by doing in this hands-on role; you'll write code, contribute to frameworks, and model excellence.
  • Design and implement test automation architecture that is fast, scalable, reliable, and tightly integrated with our development workflows.
  • Assess our current tooling, practices, and test coverage to identify gaps and lead the evolution toward best-in-class solutions.
  • Create and champion guiding philosophies around the types of tests we write (unit, integration, E2E, performance, etc.), where they live, and who owns them.
  • Influence through partnership and mentorship by working alongside engineers, QA, and team leads to raise the bar on testing practices, design for testability, and delivery quality.
  • Define and track meaningful quality metrics such as test coverage, flakiness, bug leakage, and release confidence.

Drive a modern test automation culture

  • Champion a shared-responsibility model for quality across engineering.
  • Promote shift-left testing and testability as part of system design.
  • Empower developers to write and maintain test suites as part of their normal development workflow.
  • Lead by example with clean, maintainable test code and reusable frameworks.
  • Introduce an "automation-first" mindset while preserving space for high-value manual and exploratory testing.
  • Support learning and adoption with one-on-one focus sessions with developers, internal workshops, and documentation.

Influence the software development lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Reinforce clear ownership and expectations around test planning—who writes test plans, when they're created, and how they're reviewed.
  • Embed test planning and quality review into product design and engineering kickoffs.
  • Create lightweight, effective formats for test plans that integrate with existing workflows and tools.
  • Define quality gates and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines and PR processes.
  • Ensure quality and testability considerations are addressed early in the development lifecycle.

What You Bring

  • A history of success in previous roles, defining and building a comprehensive, and modern test strategy for cloud native enterprise software.
  • Have an opinion: be able to define what "great" looks like, communicate it clearly, and guide others toward it.
  • Deep expertise in test automation frameworks, tools, and CI/CD integration across the software testing pyramid.
  • Experience working with and alongside manual testers, and a thoughtful point of view on how they fit into a modern quality strategy.
  • Strong coding skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, etc.) and familiarity with test frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, JUnit, etc.).
  • An understanding of Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills—you know how to influence without chain-of-command authority.

Why This Role Matters

You'll play a pivotal role in shaping how we build and ship software. This is your opportunity to:

  • Architect the future of testing at an org-wide scale.
  • Drive cultural change where quality is owned by everyone.
  • Lay a durable foundation for engineering speed, safety, and confidence

Experience : Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of related experience

This role sits at the intersection of architecture, quality, and culture. If you're excited to leave a legacy of better software, faster feedback, and teams that truly care about quality—this is your opportunity.
