About the Opportunity
This existing vacancy reports to the Production Manager with a dotted line to the General Manager. The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and day‑to‑day operations of the manufacturing facilities. This role provides strategic and operational direction to ensure safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people objectives are consistently achieved. The Plant Manager leads site leadership teams to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and employee engagement while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.
You will drive the people‑side of change across strategic initiatives, ensuring successful adoption of new processes, systems, structures, and behaviors in production. This role partners closely with executive leadership, Human Resources, Manufacturing Engineering, IT, and various business leaders to plan, execute, and sustain change efforts that align with organizational goals.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
· Lead and manage all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality control, and maintenance.
· Develop and lead enterprise change strategies that minimize disruption, increase engagement, and enable employees and production leadership to transition effectively through the change.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure production output, product quality, and on-time shipping meet customer expectations.
- Utilize ERP systems, including SAP and MRP, to manage inventory, production schedules, and supply chain processes.
- Oversee manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and production timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategies for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by leading process enhancements and achieving measurable goals.
- Develop systems and processes to track productivity, standards, metrics, and performance targets to maximize return on assets. Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and corrective actions for these targets
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the workforce.
- Stay abreast of industry's best practices and production management concepts.
- Develop strong stakeholder relationships with internal and external partners involved in the manufacturing process.
- Allocate resources effectively and utilize assets to achieve optimal results.
- Implement operational strategies aligned with company goals and initiatives, providing clear direction and focus.
- Monitor plant operations and implement corrective actions as necessary to resolve issues promptly.
- Foster a trusting and collaborative relationship with the workforce, recruiting, managing, and developing plant staff. Foster a high-performance team environment
- Cultivate a positive work environment through effective communication across teams and functional areas.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for waste reduction, process improvements, and cost savings.
WHAT DO YOU BRING?
·
· Post-secondary education in related manufacturing discipline (mechanical techniques, engineering, etc.)
· A minimum of 15+ years in progressive Manufacturing leadership role preferably from the metal industry with significant experience in metal manufacturing.
· Strong technical background in metal cutting processes.
· Demonstrated history of leading organizational change and driving the next stage of operational improvements through Lean principles and operational metrics.
· Hands-on leadership style with ability to lead large teams (100+ employees) and multiple shifts.
· Strong financial acumen: budget development, cost control, capital planning.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and change-management skills.
· Knowledge of relevant environmental, health & safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing.
· Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
· Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
· Demonstrated expertise in quality control processes and standards within a manufacturing setting.
· Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making related to process improvement initiatives.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office
· Adaptable with a growth mindset and willingness to learn, grow and develop
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness
· Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently or within a team setting.
· Strong tact, influencing, judgment and consultative skills

The Ontario pay range for this
