Responsibilities:

• The Undergraduate Nurse provides nursing care according to care plan under the direction and supervision of a regular member according to current competencies and as per courses successfully completed

• Communicate changes in resident condition and care to appropriate decision makers

• Monitor and deliver medication according to GSS medication processes and procedures with limitations as outlined in Appendix A

• Document in a concise and accurate manner that meets organizational, legislative and legal requirements

• Identify and report on risk management issues

• Report safety hazards in a timely manner

• Manage specialized duties and work cooperatively with team members to provide excellent client care by demonstrating a willingness to change routine to accommodate resident/client needs

• Ensure resident care is delivered in a way that acknowledges resident choice, dignity, privacy, independence, spirituality and individuality inclusive of a home-like environment

• Actively participate in team meetings and sharing of ideas

• Participate in finding solutions through constructive problem solving

• Follow emergency procedures according to GSS policy and procedures

• Request consultation or guidance from a regulated member as needed

• Demonstrate dependability by reporting to work on time and as scheduled

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, keeping the work environment consistently tidy

• Adhere to all infection control practices and procedures

• Pursue continual learning by participating in educational opportunities, in-services and/or training programs

• Ensure an environment and resources which nurture spirituality

• Maintain confidentiality on issues related to residents, employee matters and GSS information

• Commit to supporting the Mission, Vision and Values of GSS

The ideal candidate will bring to this opportunity:

• Currently enrolled in approved nursing education in Alberta
• CPR/First Aid
• Able to communicate information in English both verbally and in writing
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal courteously and positively with residents/clients, resident's family, visitors and team members
• Demonstrates flexibility by changing routine to accommodate residents/clients needs

Requirements:

• A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
• A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
