Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.
What you will do
Reporting to the Transportation Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- providing leadership, guidance, and support to employees, while ensuring effective teamwork and performance;
- maintaining public relations with the community;
- overseeing operation and maintenance of equipment;
- providing effective winter maintenance of highways in accordance with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure's policies and guidelines.
Work environment:
- Office location: Tide Head
- Work holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hours
- May work in adverse road and weather conditions

Essential Qualifications:
Highway Supervisor II:
- Diploma from a recognized two (2) year Civil Engineering Technology program in a related field.
- Three (3) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- OR high school graduation or GED and six (6) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.
Highway Supervisor I:
- Diploma from a recognized two (2) year Civil Engineering Technology program in a related field
- One (1) year of related work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- OR high school graduation or GED and four (4) years of winter maintenance work or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following asset:
- recent road construction and/or road maintenance experience.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:
Highway Supervisor I: $2,135.00 to $2,686.00 bi-weekly, based on 40 hours per week.
Highway Supervisor II: $2,346.00 to $2,947.00 bi-weekly, based on 40 hours per week.
