SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, the EarlyON Program Facilitator Assistant will play a supportive role in nurturing the growth and development of children aged 0-6 and supporting their families within our community. You will be responsible for running engaging activities, interacting with families in a warm and welcoming manner, and assisting with various tasks to maintain a positive and inclusive environment within the EarlyON center. Your work will be grounded in respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that all families feel valued and supported.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION

Program Support

  • Stay informed about Ontario's Early Learning Framework and "How Does Learning Happen?" and assist in integrating its principles into EarlyON programming.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of engaging, developmentally appropriate programs and activities for children and their families.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive and culturally sensitive.
  • Support the EarlyON Coordinator in facilitating EarlyON drop-in sessions, playgroups, events, and parenting workshops that promote early learning, parent-child interaction, and community engagement.

Family Engagement

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families, encouraging their active participation in the program.
  • Assist in providing resources and referrals to families as needed.

Community Collaboration

  • Assist in working collaboratively with community partners to enhance program offerings and support services for families.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Engage in outreach and support efforts to encourage participation in EarlyON programs.

Professional Development

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance program effectiveness and stay updated on best practices in early childhood education, cultural competency, and inclusive practices.
  • Participate in monthly PLC groups to continue learning.
  • Engage in at least one Professional Development Opportunity, outside of regular working hours, per year.

Environment Management

  • Help create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive physical and emotional environment for children and families.

Documentation and Evaluation

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of program activities and participant engagement.
  • Help use feedback and evaluation data to inform program improvements.
  • Use assessments to support programming and individual needs.
  • Provide feedback and support to parents regarding their child's development.

Administration

  • Assist with managing program logistics, including scheduling, reporting, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Help maintain mandatory pedagogical documentation and evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness and impact of EarlyON initiatives.
  • Perform clerical support, including reception, filing, and responding to inquiries from clients and the general public.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing EarlyON projects and events.
  • Compile statistics and reports as necessary.
  • Order supplies as required.
  • Participate as a member of the team.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Good knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act, 2014, ELECT, and "How Does Learning Happen?" Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Work, Social Work, Office Administration, or a related field, or a combination of education/experience acceptable to the employer.
  • Recent relevant experience working with children and families.
