Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time (Fridays, weekends, possibly evenings) Pulmonary Function Technician (PFT Tech) to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will assist in conducting pulmonary function tests (PFTs) to help diagnose and monitor respiratory conditions. The ideal candidate will be a registered Respiratory Therapist or Respiratory Technician and have a strong understanding of medical terminology and possess excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate test results. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care in a dynamic medical environment, supporting physicians with vital diagnostic information.
Responsibilities
- Perform PFTs, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, and diffusion capacity assessments, following established protocols.
- Prepare patients for testing procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and cooperation.
- Accurately record test results and maintain detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Calibrate and maintain testing equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test data and assist in clinical decision-making.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe testing environment.
- Educate patients on test procedures and provide post-test instructions as necessary.
Requirements
- Certification as a Respiratory Therapist or Respiratory Technician
- Prior experience or training in pulmonary function testing is preferred; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to respiratory health is essential.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively explain procedures and interact with patients of diverse backgrounds.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recording data is critical for reliable test results.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a healthcare setting while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $36.00-$38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 24 per week
