Avena is looking for an Operator to join our team. The position will be based in Regina, SK or Rowatt, SK, depending on business needs. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of milling equipment at a niche market oat processing plant. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate processing equipment and meet production goals with the ability to fine-tune and troubleshoot for optimization of production
• Organize shift activities and physically perform processing/milling, sanitation, and reporting activities
• Ensure safe, effective and efficient operation of the processing/milling equipment through following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
• Ensure customer satisfaction by meeting specification and quality standards through the processing/milling
• Contribute to positive work relationships with co-workers
• Submit complete written reports for production and other administrative documents as required
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Avena Oats operations with recommendations

 Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills & Behaviour):

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Five years of food processing or milling experience
• Ability in food processing or milling, problem-solving, attention to detail and communicating (both verbal and written)
• Experience in establishing and maintaining working relationships with co-workers
• Good work ethic, mature judgment, personal commitment to the job and good interpersonal skills
• Physical duties include equipment operation, lifting, bending, exposure to dust/milling environment and, from time to time, ability to work on heights or in confined spaces

*This is a shift position which may include evenings and weekends.  You may be required to work in ambient temperatures.  This position will require manual effort such as climbing ladders/stairs lifting materials, etc.
