Job Title: Heavy Duty Cleaner / Superintendent

Reports To: Property Manager / Building Management

Position Summary:

We are seeking a responsible and reliable Heavy Duty Cleaner / Superintendent to oversee the cleanliness, safety, and minor maintenance of the residential building at 51 East Liberty Street. This individual will play a key role in ensuring a clean, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for all residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities:Cleaning Duties:

  • Perform daily and scheduled heavy-duty cleaning of common areas (e.g. lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, garbage rooms, parking areas).
  • Deep cleaning of floors using auto scrubbers, buffers, or other equipment as required.
  • Pressure washing exterior areas and underground garage.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and public washrooms.
  • Maintain cleanliness of garbage and recycling rooms; assist with waste management and disposal procedures.

Building Operations:

  • Conduct daily building inspections to ensure all areas are clean, safe, and in good repair.
  • Report larger maintenance issues to the Property Manager or designated contractors.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request orders when stock is low.

Resident Support:

  • Respond to service requests and emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure friendly and respectful communication with residents, staff, and vendors.
  • Assist with unit access for contractors or scheduled maintenance (as needed).

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all health and safety protocols, including use of PPE and WHMIS guidelines.
  • Keep mechanical and janitorial rooms clean, organized, and secured.
  • Maintain building logs (e.g. maintenance logs, incident reports).

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a heavy-duty cleaning or building superintendent role (residential or commercial).
  • Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy objects, operating cleaning machinery, and performing manual labour.
  • WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to communicate in English (spoken and written).
  • Must be available for emergency call-ins and on-call duties if required.

Work Hours:

  • Full-time (typically 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or as scheduled)
  • May include some evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly wage or salary (depending on experience)
  • Uniform and training provided

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.60-$18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 48 per week
