About the Role
The Manufacturing Technician A – Optical Assembly position is responsible for aligning and bonding optical components (precision lenses) using optical alignment equipment. They operate various precision optical equipment to assemble lenses with sound technical problem-solving skills. They perform final inspection of complicated optical elements and assemblies.
Primary Responsibilities
Assemble and/or troubleshoot optical assemblies following all established manufacturing processes and procedures in alignment with AS9100 standards Inspect/measure optical components to ensure conformity to specified tolerancesSupport the manufacturing procedures and detailed instructions, using our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Configuration Management systemSupport the development of new manufacturing processes and make improvements to current manufacturing processesDesired Education and Experiences
Diploma in Photonics or Mechanical Engineering Technology or a minimum of 12 months experience in a related disciplineAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsStrong technical knowledge, capabilitiesPrevious work experience in an AS9100 and Lean Manufacturing environment is an assetKnowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles an asset but not requiredAbility to work independently and with minimum supervisionAbility to safely handle delicate optical partsGood interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills that translate into working in a team-based environmentAbility to comprehend and follow detailed instructionsAbility to effectively operate complicated equipment such as Optical Turntables and associated equipment including measurement tools-
