Duffus Health Centre, originally established as Duffus Street Medical Clinic in 2006, has evolved significantly over the years. Initially located in North End Halifax, the clinic rebranded and relocated to Bayers Road. In March 2021, after fifteen years on Bayers Road, the clinic moved to a new space on Lacewood Drive, further strengthening its partnership with Nova Scotia Health. Today, Duffus Health Centre operates as a collaborative care group with ten family physicians, family practice nurses, a social worker, a practice manager, and dedicated administrative staff. As of October 1, 2024, the clinic has transitioned to the new Longitudinal Family Medicine (LFM) payment model while remaining committed to team-based, patient-centered care. The practice utilizes Telus MedAccess EMR to support efficient documentation and workflow.

Job Description

Duffus Health Centre is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage for the following dates:

  • March 13 to 20, 2026

Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices, including inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.

Qualifications
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
