The Information Technology Services Branch plays a critical role in enabling modernization and efficiency across the Ministry by delivering enterprise-wide technology strategies and transformation initiatives.

We are seeking a visionary and innovative leader for the position of Executive Director, IT Services, to lead technology strategy, operations, and transformation initiatives that align with government priorities. Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance and Corporate Services this role will provide leadership, expertise, advice, and direction to ensure the ministry is supported in the sustainable delivery of programming to its clients.

The Opportunity

In this exciting position, you will create and sustain a client-focused, high-performing culture while leading the planning, execution, and governance of technology development initiatives. You will champion innovation, strengthen IT governance standards, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.

As a key member of the Ministry's leadership team, the Executive Director will have responsibility for:

  • Providing strategic direction, service standards and accountability expectations for service delivery monitoring and evaluation, fiscal management, and leadership within the branch.
  • Providing oversight and management of daily MSS IT systems operations, working closely with ITD to ensure technical infrastructure aligns with ministry needs, and ensuring reliability, security and performance to support the ministry and its clients.
  • Leading technology transformation including large-scale technology programs and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives from planning through delivery.
  • Supporting and collaborating on IT projects across the ministry to enhance productivity and innovation. Oversee the execution of key IT projects, including developing strong governance, managing risks, timelines, and budgets, and ensuring successful delivery of desired results.
  • Leading a team of professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning and collaboration to ensure achievement of strategic and operational goals.
  • Advising senior leadership, including the Deputy Minister and Minister as required. Develop and maintain professional relationships and partnerships with both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Negotiating and managing vendor contracts including monitoring performance and resolving issues and escalations effectively.
  • Overseeing establishment and maintenance of quality assurance protocols and standards for Ministry IT systems.
  • Possessing knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, policy development, and government planning and decision-making processes.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities for this position would have been acquired through:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Several years of senior IT leadership experience, preferably in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
