D365 F&O Finance Consultant

Role Summary

The D365 Finance Consultant is responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing financial systems and processes across the enterprise landscape. This role ensures strong alignment between business objectives and technology solutions, with a primary focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). The consultant will leverage deep expertise in financial modules, integration approaches, and governance frameworks to support efficient, scalable, and compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Architecture

• Develop and maintain financial solution architectures based on D365 F&O.

• Collaborate with solution architects and engineering teams to design and configure system solutions.

• Produce and maintain functional and technical solution design documentation.

• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles and overall finance strategy.

Implementation & Optimization

• Lead configuration, customization, and deployment of D365 F&O financial modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Budgeting.

• Work collaboratively with supply chain and retail teams to support enterprise-level process design, owning the financial components across these modules.

• Configure system workflows and user-facing functionality in designated modules.

• Design and implement end-user reporting solutions.

• Create test cases, support testing efforts, and collaborate closely with QA teams.

• Develop comprehensive documentation including specifications, solution designs, test plans, and user guides.

• Contribute to training materials, deliver training sessions, and provide ongoing system support and guidance.

• Identify and deliver process improvements and automation opportunities within financial operations.

Portfolio Management

• Oversee financial systems within the enterprise portfolio, ensuring compliance, stability, and interoperability.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to prioritize enhancements and integration initiatives.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure all solutions adhere to regulatory requirements such as SOX and IFRS.

• Partner with audit and security teams to embed appropriate controls into solution designs.

Integration & Data Management

• Design and manage integrations between D365 F&O and related enterprise systems, such as procurement, banking, and analytics platforms.

• Maintain data integrity and support financial reporting requirements.

• Understand and document data mapping and data flow across supported systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• University degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience as a Functional Consultant or Analyst implementing D365 F&O solutions.

• Experience with large-scale ERP implementations.

• Strong understanding of financial modules and related workflows.

Finance Domain Knowledge

• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in D365 Finance & Operations or related Microsoft technologies.

• Experience with Power Platform, Azure integrations, or data analytics.

• Certifications or training in Power BI, SQL, or Azure are considered assets.
