As a Business Intelligence Analyst at FreshBooks, you will design and deliver data assets that empower our teams to make analytics-informed decisions. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand priorities and challenges, translating them into effective, scalable data solutions. Your work will enable self-service analytics, ensure data quality, and provide actionable insights.
Note:This role can be worked remotely from Toronto, Ontario, or the Greater Toronto Area. The team meets in our Toronto office on an ad hoc basis, up to twice per month.
What You'll DoCollaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine data requirements, ensuring solutions address business needs.Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models using dbt within the GCP environment.Build and optimize Looker Explores, Dashboards, and LookML to enable self-service analytics and deliver clear business insights.Create and certify Looker reports for decision-makers across the organization.Implement data governance best practices, including documentation, access controls, and data quality processes.Maintain detailed documentation for all data models, including ERDs, data dictionaries, and transformation logic.Continuously improve data performance, accuracy, and usability across the business.
What You'll Bring1–3 years of proven experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering, or equivalent Co-op/Internship experience.Strong knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT concepts.Full proficiency in SQL (complex querying, optimization, debugging, joins, window functions, CTEs).Experience developing and maintaining data models and pipelines using dbt.Proficiency in Looker (including LookML) for dashboards and reporting.Ability to translate complex data into clear, impactful visualizations and insights.Strong problem-solving and communication skills for technical and non-technical collaboration.
You'll Stand Out If You HaveExperience writing Python or R scripts for analytics workflows.Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data tools.Background in a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
