Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to support classroom teachers and enhance student learning experiences. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education, especially those with experience working with children and students with special needs. The Educational Assistant will play a vital part in fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment, assisting with instructional activities, and providing personalized support to students. Candidates with strong communication skills, classroom experience, and knowledge of early childhood education or special education are encouraged to apply.

Duties

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or requiring special education services.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts such as math and reading.
  • Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) to facilitate communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Help create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive social interactions and engagement.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and transitions.
  • Support students' social-emotional development by fostering positive behavior and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and parents to develop individualized support strategies.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and setting up learning stations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior as required.

Experience

  • Prior classroom experience is preferred, especially in early childhood or special education settings.
  • Experience working with children of various ages and abilities is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies for students with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is advantageous but not mandatory; training may be provided.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience in math instruction or early childhood education will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work patiently and empathetically with diverse learners in a supportive manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.44-$29.61 per hour
