Principal Engineer – ASI Engineering
Own the Standard. Build the Future.
At ASI Engineering, we don't just do projects — we build the future of asset management.
We inspect and protect the infrastructure that keeps Canada running. Water systems. Fuel networks. Transmission lines. Assets that matter.
Now, we're looking for a Principal Engineer who's not afraid to set the bar higher — someone who can lead with technical precision, strategic clarity, and an obsession with quality that never quits.
What This Role Is Really About
This isn't a management position. It's a craftsmanship position.
You'll be the final word on engineering excellence. The person who reviews every report, every technical deliverable before it leaves our office — and ensures it's bulletproof.
When others see "good enough," you'll see opportunity to improve by 1%.
That's the mindset that built ASI's reputation, and it's the mindset you'll carry forward.
What You'll Do
- Lead from the front. Guide complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects — corrosion, civil, asset management, and beyond.
- Mentor with purpose. Shape the next generation of engineers. Push them to think critically, act decisively, and deliver at a level they didn't know they had.
- Own the review process. Nothing leaves ASI without your eyes on it. You'll check, refine, and sign off with pride, ensuring our work meets not just industry standards, but ours — which are higher.
- Think strategically. Look beyond the immediate task and design solutions that align with long-term asset performance, lifecycle cost, and client strategy.
- Stay hands-on. From site visits to boardrooms, you'll bridge the technical and the tactical.
- Drive innovation. Champion better tools, smarter processes, and data-driven decision making across all projects.
- Hold the line. Protect the ASI standard — consistency, clarity, and credibility in every deliverable.
Who You Are
- A P.Eng. with 10+ years of real-world (i.e., field) experience.
- A mentor and enforcer of technical excellence — you don't just review, you raise the bar.
- A strategic thinker who sees the big picture and knows how to get there one iteration at a time.
- A builder of teams, not egos. You lead with calm authority, humility, and clarity.
- A believer in continuous improvement — you live by the idea that small gains compound into mastery.
- A person who thrives in the details — because you know the details are what make the difference.
Why ASI
We're a high-performance, low-politics engineering firm built by people who give a damn.
Every project we take on is done with intent, precision, and pride.
We offer:
- A culture of ownership, accountability, and respect for craft.
- The autonomy to make real decisions and see the impact of your work.
- A chance to mentor a talented, growing team hungry to learn.
- Competitive salary and performance incentives.
Our Mantra: 1% Better Every Day
We don't chase perfection — we chase progress.
Every report, every review, every client call is a chance to improve by 1%.
Because that's how you build trust, mastery, and infrastructure that lasts generations.
If that resonates — if you're the kind of engineer who still cares about making a real difference and the integrity behind a signature — then you'll fit right in.
