Job Summary

The Intermediate Drafting Technologist will complete drafting of electrical distribution systems and preparing electronic (CAD) working plans for various residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Education & Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drafting experience.
  • Experience drafting power distribution systems would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications would be considered an asset.
  • Electrical Design & Drafting Technology or Engineering Design Technology Diploma or CAD Certificate from a recognized technical institution.
  • First aid and CPR certification would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Draft underground and overhead power distribution systems using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Draft traffic signal, lighting and electrical drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Utilize knowledge of design standards and procedures when completing drawings and deliverables to client and industry specifications.
  • Create single line diagrams, electrical layouts, schematics and wiring.
  • Conduct drawing reviews and corrections including following QAQC processes.
  • Support the project team in delivering high quality client service.
  • Collaborate with senior designers and engineers for support and development on more challenging tasks.
  • Work closely with senior team members to support and mentor more junior team members.
  • Ensure all safety procedures and processes are followed with the goal of zero injury.
  • Work safely and follow all rules and procedures including attending and participating in safety meetings and completing all required safety orientation and training.
  • Completion of other relevant duties as required.

Position Conditions

  • Job is performed in an office environment but site travel may occasionally be required depending on the project.
