Unio Tech Solutions offers a full range of IT services and special projects for medium and large sized companies throughout Canada and the USA. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working individual to take on the role of IT Infrastructure Reporting Specialist for our company.
This role supports the IT Project Manager to create structured post-job reports following the completion of network infrastructure installations or service calls. The ideal candidate will have experience with IT/network environments and be capable of documenting work done on-site, including data racks, cabling, switch configurations, and other network components.
You must be a person with a minimum 5 years of field experience in IT.
This job is done in person at our office/warehouse in Markham, Ontario. Occasional work on evenings and weekends may be required. We anticipate between 3 days to 5 days per week. Hours will vary based on our work load.
We work with clients such as Uber, Sun Life Financial, Sephora, Allstate Insurance, Scotiabank, Walmart, Manulife and many other Fortune 500 companies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Reporting & Documentation
- Assist the IT Project Manager in preparing comprehensive project reports by collecting and organizing data from field technicians and IT Supervisors to generate accurate progress and completion summaries.
- Edit and format existing images, diagrams, and documents to ensure all materials follow Unio Tech Solutions' documentation standards and naming protocols.
- Create and maintain the following documentation for client projects:
- Floor Plans showing network device placements and cabling routes.
- Network Diagrams detailing topology, device interconnections and link types.
- Port Maps documenting switch ports, patch panels and endpoint connections.
- Switch Maps identifying configurations and device interdependencies.
- Boardroom Diagrams outlining room layouts and AV and conferencing placement.
- Draft job summaries, technical notes, and client recommendations, ensuring clarity and actionable next steps for future phases.
- Prepare drafts of final job completion reports for IT Project Manager's review and client submission.
- Support electronic recycling documentation, including preparing and tracking certificates of recycling and destruction.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to prepare non-technical project summaries and reports for clients.
Networking & Infrastructure Support
- Participate in onsite networking projects, including equipment setup, cable tracing, labeling, and verification of network connectivity.
- Validate and update network inventory lists to ensure accurate asset management for clients.
- Collaborate with the onsite tech teams to ensure that all network changes, upgrades, or relocations are properly logged and reflected in documentation.
Systems & Administrative Support
- Image laptops and desktop computers for deployment using company-approved methods and configurations.
- Maintain Tech Department documentation standards, ensuring all project files, reports, and certificates are organized and stored within the company's approved file structure.
- Assist with receiving and organizing technology in the warehouse as required, including verifying incoming shipments and labeling devices.
- Maintain and perform internal audits of IT assets, tools, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is properly logged and accounted for.
- Provide general administrative and technical support for the Technology department as required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- College diploma or certification in Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) or CCNA
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with network installations and IT infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, Wi-Fi).
- Experience with network hardware brands such as Cisco, Aruba, Ubiquiti, or Meraki is an asset.
- Proficiency with tools like Visio, EdrawMax, Auto CAD or similar tools for network diagrams
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites.
- Certification in WHMIS – or willingness to go through the training once hired.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
- Must be accessible after-hours and throughout the weekend as required
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
