Reporting to the Director or Government Liaison Office (GLO), this position is responsible for regional implementation of strategic planning, the development, management and integration, of the GLO Program's, policies, programs and services. This position will ensure two-way communication with the public as well as the delivery of Government of Nunavut information and services at the community level. As the GLOs will provide the utmost quality of professionalism and service, through ensuring government services are easily accessed; reliable information is delivered; providing bilingual (inuktitut/inuinnaqtuun and English) services; ensuring reliable information is distributed; obtaining feedback from the public on GN; delivering of some GN programs at the community level; and coordinating collaboration between government agencies.
Reporting to the Director of Government Liaison Office, the position is the regional and local government liaison position within the GN's public service. The incumbent plays a key role in advising the Director and Deputy Minister of the GLO program. The incumbent ensures effective communication of GN's mandate and adherence to the vision and priorities in all GN communications. The position implements the strategic direction for GN Government Liaison Officer program and ensures that action reflects corporate priorities, goals and objectives. The incumbent implements the coordination and integration of departmental GLO activities and ensures the outcomes of those activities support the corporate agenda and GN mandate. The incumbent will work with the GLO's and other GN staff to ensure that communication remains coordinated and integrated. ResponsibilitiesThe Regional Supervisor establishes a relationship with outside agencies as appropriate to ensure the GN objectives for the GLO program are accomplished. This position supervises GLO's. Regional Supervisor is responsible for staffing, leave & attendance requests, disciplinary actions, etc. Also responsible for financial administration and budgetary planning process for its region and financial policies. Ensuring implementation of the Government Liaison Program in the communities through ensuring all positions are filled, providing proper training for the incumbents; and ensuring all GLO's provide government services; provide reliable information to the public; provide bilingual services; distribute reliable information; obtain feedback from the public on GN and report back to appropriate government agencies; deliver some GN programs at the community level; and coordinate collaboration between government agencies, all in an efficient and professional manner.
The position works within the Government Liaison Office in addressing specific priorities under the GN's mandate. Under the guiding principle of the Regional Supervisor manages subordinate staff. Regional Supervisor is accountable for the provision of a wide range of services to the department, the Directo, the Deputy Minister, and the Minister.
QualificationsThe knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job undergraduate degree in Public Administration or related field. Two (2) years of experience in the implementation of strategic and tactical service programs including one (1) year of supervisory experience. The ability to communicate in English, Inuktitut/Inuinaqtuun is required. The ability to communicate in French is an asset. This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
