Medical Office Assistant

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but not limited to the following:

  • Answering phones, managing appointment bookings and referrals.

  • Cleaning and preparing exam and treatment rooms between patient visits and maintaining the general cleanliness of the clinic.

  • Setting up and assisting with minor procedures including PAPs, pelvic examinations/IUD's

  • Initiating forms, creating billings, and collecting payment for services not covered by AHW.

  • Providing a variety of clerical support duties such as filing, scanning documents to EMR, sorting and distributing mails and fax.

  • Preparing and maintaining health records and other documentation related to the patient visit.

  • Performing patient's basic vital sign.

  • Patients call back.

  • Other administrative duties as required.

Qualification/Experience

  • Medical Office Assistant or equivalent certification.

  • Minimum of one-year working experience in a medical clinic, preferably in a family practice setting.

  • Good customer service.

  • Excellent telephone and communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and successfully carry out duties while at a busy reception desk.

  • A professional and friendly personality.

  • Ability to take initiative and follow direction.

  • Experience of using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Telus Med Access EMR will be an advantage.

  • Good computer skills.
