Job Description

SAS Architect / Admin Job Skills & Requirements: 

Degree  in computer science or a computer related field and 8 years related experience.

Minimum 10 years of experience working in Information Technology or related area.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a SAS architect and administrator.
Minimum 3 years of experience in operational support and maintenance of large complex data management and business intelligence environment.

Should have the ability to access the existing architecture and provide roadmap for the new architecture implementation.

Should have migration experience from SAS 9.2 to 9.3 GRID architecture.

Should have good experience in installing and administering SAS software in complex environments including SAS Grid.  Experience in problem-solving, leadership and mentoring, tests and design of multitier environments of SAS 9.3. Expert at analyzing and solving the most complex technical problems.

Experience:

Installation of SAS Solutions in multitier environments.

SAS Grid computing deployment and administration.

Knowledge of Solaris, Linux and Unix operating systems.

Installation & Administration knowledge of LSF.

Knowledge of third party software like Web Application Servers, Active directory, Centrify, Monit, Samba

Design of complex architectures for SAS 9.3 and using LSF.

Knowledge of Capacity planning for grid projects

Design and implementation experience of multitier and grid architectures

Data sources include a variety of formats including DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, MS Access, MS Excel, as well as ASCII and EBDCIC.

Primary focus will be maintaining the existing GRID configuration and environment in the Red Hat Linux SAS Grid enabled environment.

Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of production issues

Ability to multi-task and address complex support issues in a mixed technology environment

Excellent customer service skills

Should have good working exp on 3rd party tolls like

Unix Shell scripting and security essentials 
Detailed knowledge of SAS security 
Ability to write complex SQL queries 
SAS web application deployment 
Hands-on experience with Enterprise Guide, SAS Stored Processes, and SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office 
Knowledgeable in the design and implementation of an Enterprise SAS Grid Environment and/or 'desk top harvesting' 
Must possess an in depth understanding of the capabilities of SAS 

Knowledge must include architectural design, web part development, management and troubleshooting with a focus on planning, deploying and supporting enterprise SAS implementations 
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities 
Solid knowledge of web architecture, application architecture, and security and operational procedures 
Proven leadership experience and project management skills 
Strong understanding of SDLC processes, knowledge of ITIL a plus 
Familiarity/experience with clinical trials, clinical data management systems, and/or electronic data capture systems a plus 
System validation and documentation in a regulatory environment (21 CFR Part 11) 

SAS Architect / Admin Job Summary: 
Prioritizes requirements from functional teams and assists power users with best in class solutions 
Responsible for maintenance and administration of the SAS environments including installation, configuration, performance tuning, monitoring, backups and support 
Conducts root cause analysis, problem management, short and long term corrective action on SAS tools and SAS programs 
Manages user administration and ensures environment security and stability 
Escalates issues with other teams (infrastructure, DBA's, developers, and software vendors 
Owns software patches and upgrades, works with the vendor for ongoing maintenance and support 
Provides performance and forecast reports on the health of the SAS infrastructure and ensures that the environments have adequate computational and storage capacity 
Works with the infrastructure teams for new hardware setups for ongoing maintenance and future upgrades 
Tracks and documents all reported problems and data anomalies 
Provides 'best practices', ensures governance and optimizes performance of the SAS environment 
Designs high-level software architecture including object-oriented analysis and design 
Designs relational database models to support database-driven software systems
