Production Manager

We are a fast-growing company with a focus on safety and providing excellent products and service to our customers. We are looking to hire a Production Manager. This position requires strong knowledge of welding and fabricating steel. You must be detail-oriented and be able to lead, manage and work efficiently within a team.

We are looking for someone who is:

· Experienced – Must have at least ten (10) years in the production and fabrication and must also have at least five (5) years of experience managing a production team of at least five (5) employees or more. Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid and clean Class 5 BC Driver's License. Must be able to analyze blueprints and designs and fabricate and assemble steel components. The following are helpful, but not required: First Aid Training/Certificate, WHMIS Training, Forklift/Scissor Lift Ticket(s). CWB Supervisor certification or equivalent experience will be considered.

· Detail-oriented & Technical– Must pay exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on safety. Must be able to read technical design/welding/fabrication documents, including blueprints.

· A Good Communicator with Good Customer Service Skills – Must have strong customer service and communication skills to engage with clients, other trades and co-workers.

· A Leader – Someone who leads by example, not just by title or words. Someone who can work with minimal supervision, follow instructions and provide feedback as required, and is comfortable exercising independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.

· A Quick-learner – Capable of learning and retaining knowledge pertaining to the practices, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in this welding and fabrication work.

· Focused – Works hard, spends time working on the task at hand, and is not easily distracted. Strong time management skills.

· Fluent – Knows English with strong written and speaking skills; other languages are also helpful.

· A Team Player & Problem Solver – Someone who doesn't hesitate to roll up their sleeves to help others, even if it isn't part of their "job description." Someone who is able to coordinate work assignments with other workers, divisions or departments and who can overcome challenges for our clients and our team, instead of accepting limitations or complaining. Someone who has a positive attitude.

Specific Job Duties:

o Establish, track and meet production schedules and shipping deadlines.

o Create & maintain accurate Shop records, including Bills of Manufacturing, Job Orders.

o Manage Inventory.

o Run Material Resource Planning (MRP).

o Manage Shipping & Receiving.

o Check/Review new Production Drawings.

o Implement and monitor production schedules while optimizing resource allocation.

o Oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet company and industry standards.

o Collaborate with supply chain management to ensure material availability and reduce lead times.

o Utilize ERP systems for effective inventory management and reporting.

o Drive process improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity.

o Conduct regular assessments of production workflows, identifying areas for improvement.

o Provide leadership and training to production staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and a safety-first culture, including training and retraining on applicable safe practices and work methods and safety regulations and PPE use.

o Oversee safety procedures in Shop and for Production to ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, rules, regulations, as well as other compliance standards like CSA W47.1. This includes identifying issues and hazards in the Shop/Yard and avoiding or mitigating them.

o Track and maintain requisite certification and training for Production staff and operations.

o Provide high-quality customer service to our external and internal customers.

o Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operations and orderly work areas.

o Assist in implementing ISO 9001:2015 standards and in continuous improvement of operations and product.
