Construction/Field Surveyor – Full-Time

Location: Brandon, MB

Schedule: Monday to Friday | On-site

Quarry Hills Excavation & Gravel Ltd. is one of Westman's most dynamic and fast-growing heavy civil contractors, specializing in excavation, sewer & water, and gravel services. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Construction/Field Surveyor for a full-time term position, with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled surveyor looking to gain valuable field experience on large-scale infrastructure projects while contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate surveying equipment to perform data collection and layout for construction projects
  • Establish and maintain accurate project control points
  • Complete site grade checks and quantity takeoffs for progress verification
  • Collaborate with project managers, trades, and technologists to ensure designs align with field conditions
  • Assist with permitting documentation and project planning coordination
  • Manage and convert geospatial data in various formats (DWG, CSV, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in operating advanced surveying equipment and software
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, layout, and data collection methods
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and file conversion workflows an asset
  • Experience working with TIN surfaces and digital terrain models is considered an asset
  • Background in Geomatics, Surveying, or Civil Engineering Technology (completed or in progress) is an asset
  • Previous experience in construction layout is preferred

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technological and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities independently
  • Comfortable working both individually and as part of a larger team
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions
