Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces, ensuring a smooth and professional appearance. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Taper will collaborate with other trades to deliver high-quality results on various projects, including residential and commercial buildings.

Duties

  • Apply joint compound or plaster to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to create a smooth finish.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming prior to taping or finishing work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate application of finishes.
  • Use hand tools such as trowels, knives, sanders, and brushes effectively.
  • Perform caulking around joints and seams for a seamless appearance.
  • Assist with related carpentry tasks as needed, including minor repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean work area and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

Skills

  • Proven experience in construction painting, taping, or finishing work.
  • Strong knowledge of construction principles and carpentry basics.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Skilled in caulking, drywall finishing, and surface preparation.
  • Maintenance Person experience is a plus for versatile task execution.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality craftsmanship.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks requiring standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
