Position Summary

  • Load and unload brick loaded parcels from outbound and inbound trailers and trucks.
  • Sort freight with accuracy and efficiency and stack freight on pallets neatly and orderly.
  • Must be able to follow instructions with a high level of care and attention to detail. On the Job training provided.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and all work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to provide a safe environment to work in.
  • Determine and follow proper handling and stacking methods and sort routing identification.
  • Keep accurate and up to date records as required.
  • Use handheld scanning equipment with accuracy.
  • Examine and inspect packages for wear or defects and report any damage to supervisors.
  • Material handling: lifting, handling of cartons, bags, envelopes and moving pallets using pallet jacks.
  • Must be able to repetitively reach above your shoulders as well as pick up parcels from floor level returning to waist height.
  • Various other duties assigned by the lead hand / supervisor or manager

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous warehouse experience.
  • Applicants who provide job references that confirm you have excellent attendance will also be given preference.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Experience in shipping procedures and documentations are an asset.
  • Must always be safety conscious while working.
  • Must be reliable and trustworthy.
  • Must have transportation to work. (No bus routes offered in the Queens Industrial Park)
  • Must be physically fit, able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted and be able to perform heavy and repetitive lifting on a sustained prolonged basis.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced teamwork environment to finish all unload and sort duties on time wile using safe work practices.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.07 per hour
