Audit Manager - Hybrid (Downtown Toronto)

Alliance Consulting Co is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Audit Manager to join our dynamic and growing mid-sized public accounting firm located in Downtown Toronto.

This is a hybrid position requiring regular commuting to our Downtown Toronto office. We are looking for a leader with a strong technical background and a proven track record in public practice, ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role.

Key Responsibilities

As an Audit Manager, you will be a key leader in our Assurance and Advisory practice, responsible for managing engagements, developing staff, and fostering strong client relationships.

  • Engagement Leadership: Lead and manage assurance engagements including audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through completion.
  • Technical Review: Prepare and review financial statements and engagement files to ensure compliance with professional standards (e.g., ASPE, IFRS).
  • Tax Expertise: Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, and trusts (T1, T2, T3).
  • Project Management: Effectively manage multiple engagement timelines, budgets, and workflow, achieving 1,300–1,400 chargeable hours annually with 90% realization.
  • Staff Development: Mentor, supervise, and coach junior staff members (including participation in recruiting and onboarding).
  • Client Relations: Act as a primary client contact, manage relationships, identify client needs, and support cross-selling opportunities.
  • Financial Oversight: Review Work-in-Progress (WIP) and assist with timely client billing.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Professional Designation: CPA designation is REQUIRED.
  • Experience: 4–5+ years of recent public practice experience (preferably with a mid-sized firm).
  • Location: Must be a local/commutable candidate to our Downtown Toronto office (hybrid arrangement).
  • Skills: Demonstrated strong audit/assurance technical skills and experience managing a portfolio of diverse engagements.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and mentorship experience.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Previous experience at a mid-sized or national accounting firm.
  • Exposure to business development or cross-selling activities.
  • Strong experience in WIP review, billing, and workflow management.
  • Interest in developing a niche specialization (e.g., industry or service line).

Compensation & Details

  • Salary: $140,000 – $150,000 based on experience.
