Apex Specialized Rigging & Moving works in Western Canada's industrial sector, known for handling complex and large-scale industrial moving projects. Apex offers a wide range of services, including specialty rigging, heavy haul transportation, jack & slide services, and custom fabrication. With a commitment to safety, innovation, and precision, Apex utilizes advanced equipment to deliver efficient and safe solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work alongside and lead rigging crew to safely offload, move, and place industrial and heavy equipment using specialized tools and machinery (e.g., SPMTs, jack and slide, gantries, forklifts, cranes)
- Load and unload trailers, secure loads with tie-downs, tarps, and rigging equipment
- Operate trailers and assist with transport of oversize and overweight loads to various worksites
- Plan and coordinate lift operations, ensuring all equipment and procedures align with job scope and safety protocols
- Conduct safety briefings, oversee rigging plans, and monitor crew adherence to safe work procedures
- Assist with lifting, lowering, and navigating complex moves in tight or sensitive spaces
- Ensure all transport and rigging documentation is complete and accurate
- Provide mentorship and direction to crew members while maintaining good working relations with customers
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards - Communicate proactively with Superintendents and Project Managers to support successful project execution
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of rigging or industrial moving experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, load calculations, and the use of lifting equipment
- Willingness to obtain or renew relevant tickets/certifications (e.g., rigging, forklift, crane)
- Able to lift and maneuver heavy items consistently and safely
- Valid Class 1 BC Driver's License (clean abstract) is a strong asset
- Class 3 License, crane ticket, and oversize load experience also considered assets
- Honest, reliable, punctual, and adaptable, with a strong safety mindset
- Good communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Availability for out-of-town work and flexibility with work hours as required
- This position reports to various industrial sites throughout the Lower Mainland and may include regional travel
Compensation:
This is a union (IUOE 115) position paying $45.99 per hour plus benefits, pension, and holiday pay.
