Steele Auto Group is currently seeking an Accounting Clerk III to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a key part in our dealership operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong accounting controls, and supporting the Controller with essential month-end and year-end activities.
Compensation: $52,000 - $62,712 per year, based on knowledge, skills and experience.
What You'll DoDeal Processing & Dealership Operations
Review and audit deal jackets for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with dealership policies, OEM standards, and CRA requirements.
Balance and post car deals and prepare required reporting.
Reconcile assigned accounting schedules, including prepaid accounts, warranty receivables, factory receivables, cash clearing, inventory schedules, and open repair orders.
Complete bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve outstanding items.
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close activities (floorplan statements, reserve accounts, deferred revenue).
Assist with internal audits and contribute to strong internal control practices.
Support the Controller in preparing financial statements and operational reporting packages.
Provide analytical insights and resolve accounting discrepancies across sales, service, and parts departments.
Knowledge & Skills
Solid understanding of GAAP principles and dealership accounting workflows.
Proficiency in Excel (intermediate to advanced) and accounting software systems.
Exceptional accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and handle multiple demands.
Strong analytical skills and ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
High standards of financial accuracy and accountability.
Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
