The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Optometric Assistant to join our team at a busy two doctor practice in Burlington. The potential candidate will be available to work 3-4 days per week - no weekends.

Responsibilities will primarily include duties in our eyewear dispensary - assisting with frame selection, fitting eyewear, frame repair and other dispensing related activities. Additional responsibilities may include reception duties - appointment scheduling, filing, faxing, handling referrals and pretesting (autorefractor, NCT and lensometry); visual field testing, OCT and retinal imaging. Previous experience in an optometric, optical or medical setting is preferred, however, we are willing to train a mature, enthusiastic individual who is willing and able to learn in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy are important in this position. The successful candidate will be dependable and flexible to accommodate changes in schedule and responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience in optometry/optical preferred.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with patients and other staff members in a professional manner.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must live within a reasonable distance to commute to Burlington.
  • Please note: this position is not suitable for students.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25 per week
