Four Counties Addiction Services Team (Fourcast) is a community-based addiction treatment service provider that strives to provide the highest quality of evidence-based addiction treatment and case management services. Fourcast offers services across 5 sites in the region. The community treatment program staff work in-office and community settings and are often co-located and integrated with other organizations to reduce barriers for those accessing services.

About The Position...

This role is based in the Peterborough office and is a full time permanent position.

Four Counties Addiction Services Team (Fourcast) is pleased to partner with various Peterborough agencies, to offer services through our new Peterborough Homelessness Addiction and Recovery Team (HART) Hub. The Peterborough HART Hub is designed as a low-barrier, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, health care model that integrates primary care, mental health, substance use treatment, housing with supports, and health systems navigation.

The Addiction ICM provides screening, assessment and counselling using addiction evidence-based tools and interventions in both individual and group settings. Support is provided through assertive engagement that includes partnership in a multidisciplinary team and active collaboration with health and social service partners for overall treatment planning, recommendations, and interventions.

What We're Looking For:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology, or related degree, with a postgraduate certificate in Addictions and Mental Health, or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience working in a related position preferred, ideally in a community-based setting.
  • Advanced skills in addictions interventions including counselling/therapy, crisis intervention, advocacy, mediation, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with serious mental illness and complex personal needs.
  • Experience using evidence based screening and assessment tools

Certifications, Licenses and Records:

  • Valid Ontario Class G drive license
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certificate.
  • Certification in GAIN assessment would be an asset.
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment, critical thinking and proven analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member both internally and within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Commitment to service user focused philosophy of care
  • Knowledge of relevant laws such as Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Housing Services Act, Residential Tenancies Act and other pertinent regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Act and infection control practices to maintain a safe environment.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a variety of settings including office setting, shelters, service users dwelling, other businesses and/or organizations, and in the community.
  • Population serviced may include but not limited to adults, youth, and older adults including individuals with Substance use; Mental Health; Concurrent disorders; Problem gambling; chronic health conditions; individuals involved with the criminal justice system; diverse race and ethnicity; persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity, people with disabilities; and pregnant individuals.
  • Work with frequent interruptions both in-person and virtually in a complex and often unpredictable environment.
  • Work activity is normally performed without blood or body fluid exposure; however, exposure may occur on occasion.
  • Work environment consists of unpredictable situations, and exposure to various sites, smells and sounds.
